Donskoye is a small settlement located near the coast of the Baltic Sea and is part of the Svetlogorsk Municipal District of the Kaliningrad Region.
Until 1946, the settlement was part of East Prussia and was called Groß Dirschkeim.
The village of Donskoye is residential, it contains: cafes, shops, banks, polyclinic, post office, pharmacies, workshops, bus stops, etc.
Among the attractions in the village: the church of the Icon of the Mother of God "Donskaya", a memorial plaque to A.A. Stepanov and a memorial sign "For Faith and Fidelity", located in the square on Stepanov Street.
But this is not what attracts tourists and residents of the Kaliningrad region to Donskoye, but a strip of coast and a steep slope adjacent to it, from which one of the most amazing panoramic views of the sandy coast and the Baltic Sea opens.
Sometimes there are even disputes, "Which views are more beautiful in the region: those that open in Donskoy or those that open to Filinskaya Bay and the surrounding area, from a ledge near the bay." Our subjective opinion is unequivocal - Don wins! But to form an opinion, it is better to personally see both that and that area. You can find out about Filinskaya Bay and see photos here →
The Baltic Sea coast near the village of Donskoye is very attractive for those who want to admire the coast, the sea and just take a walk or relax on the sandy shore.
The Baltic Sea and the sandy coast are separated from the village itself by high steep cliffs, at the top of which lies a forest strip and from which beautiful panoramic views of the cliff itself, the coastline and the waters of the Baltic Sea open.
This place is very photographed
The approach to the edge of the cliff passes through a narrow forest area. There are trails.
You can go down to the coast by stairs, which are located in the south-western part of the village.
On the coast in the Don pleasant fine and light sand, there are stones and branches.
The seabed is also sandy; there are rocks.
The strip of coast is quite wide. There is no beach infrastructure. There are usually few people on the beach.
It is good not only to swim here, but also to come for picnics and just walk along the sandy shore along the cliff.
If desired, you can arrange hiking along the coast, and walk from Donskoy to Filinskaya Bay, then to Otradnoe and Svetlogorsk.
