Gran Beach, also known as simply the Tossa beach (Platja Gran / Gran Playa) is the Central and most lively beach of Tossa de Mar.
The beach is directly at the centre of Tossa de Mar.
The beach lies at the foot of a rocky hill, which is the most iconic landmark in Tossa's medieval old town surrounded by a fortified wall with guard towers (Vila Velha / Vila Vella).

From the opposite side of the castle (North-East), Playa Grande is bordered with a rocky beach, del Reig.

The length of the beach is 380 meters, and its average width is 60 meters.
On the beach of coarse sand of light color. The beach cleanup is done daily. Sea water is clean and clear.

From the South-Eastern part of the beach near the foot of the hill and the old town, the boats on which you can take boat trips to neighbouring resorts (Lloret de Mar, Blanes, Malgrat de Mar, etc.) or to visit the coves of the East coast and to snorkel. The cost of shore excursions starts from 15 Euro.

Along the Platja Gran beach, and two nearby beaches (Ray and Menuda) is a promenade (boardwalk), which is one of the most popular places for walking and recreation in Tossa.

The Central part of the beach (closer to the Eastern edge), near the waterfront, stop for the tourist train, where you can explore Tossa de Mar. The journey is 45 minutes. Ticket price 6€, concessions 3.50 Euros.
