Not far from Piazza Venezia and the Vittoriano is the Forum of Trajan (Forum Traiani). The forum of Trajan is an ensemble of architectural monuments and is chronologically the last of the Imperial fora of Rome.
The forum of Trajan along with the Museum of the Imperial forum is on via dei Fori Imperiali (Via dei Fori Imperiali), just on a small road between the Colosseum and Piazza Venezia. Thanks to the excellent location of several major Roman sites, very convenient to see all of them simultaneously.
The forum is named in honor of the Roman Emperor from the dynasty of antonines, better known as Emperor Trojan, although its full name is: Marcus ulpius Nerva Trajan rcus Ulpius Nerva Traianus).
Trajan's forum was built by order of Emperor Trajan. Construction began in the year 106, and the opening took place in 112 year. Designed as a forum a favorite of the Emperor Trajan by the architect and sculptor of the second century of our era - Apollodor from Damascus.
Currently you can see not the whole forum, and, of course, to the present day not preserved all of its original parts. Now the forum, like all forums of Rome, represents the ruins of historic and architectural value.
All sorts of historically significant ruins in Rome the phenomenon is widespread, especially in the Central (historic) part of town. Sometimes going through the streets of the Italian capital, and literally every 100-200 meters in ruins and boulders are replaced by others.
The forum of Trajan, adjoin the ruins of the trade building is a former multi-level market of Trajan. The sources said that the market for architectural design, namely masiu concrete and stone that formed the walls of the market. Personally we are not big fans of the ruins, so the forum itself and the market, unlike the Roman squares and fountains or the same of the Vatican, we did not make any impression.
Opposite the Trajan market, across the road is the Roman forum which was once separated from the market of fire-prevention wall. Our story is about the famous Roman forum will go to one of the following articles.
In addition to the ruins of the forum there are also flowers, pine and a statue of Caesar.
The forum of Trajan can be viewed for free from the adjacent squares and streets, which we successfully did. Moreover, during our visit to Rome, the forum was closed due to ongoing archaeological research.
Here is located the Museum of the Imperial forum. The Museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 9:00 to 19:00 hours. Entrance fee, the ticket costs about 12 euros. For an additional fee you can rent audio guide.
On the square of the forum of Trajan tridtsativosmimetrovym stands the famous column of Trajan. This column was erected in the year 113. The column immediately catches the eye. It is made of twenty blocks of pure Carrara marble.
This column is not cast, as it may seem at first glance, inside it is hollow, there is a spiral staircase leading to the platform on the capitals. If you look closely, the base of the column, you can see the door. According to local residents this door leads to the hall, where once was placed the Golden urn with the ashes of Trajan and his wife Pompeii Dam. True or not I can not say.
The top of the column of Trajan surmounted by a statue of the Apostle Peter. However, the statue of the Apostle was to the colon not always, initially, the column was decorated with eagle, later a statue of Trajan and only in 1588 on the column stands the statue of one of the twelve apostles of Jesus Hrista. By the way, in the Catholic Church, namely the Apostle Peter is considered the first Pope.
The column of Trajan, in the heart of the historic part of Rome, situated two churches. These two churches are one after another, and although carry a different name, but their appearance is very similar to each other, creating a duet. But these outwardly similar churches have significant differences. They distinguish the time of construction, the architects and the interior.
Church architecture is quite original, has an oval shape and decorated with sculptures. The interiors are decorated with wall paintings. Although the Roman architecture, it is not original, and peculiar... Like churches and temples, especially standing and looks almost identical to the on-site the Italian capital a lot.
One of the churches that is closer to Trajan's column bears the name Church of the Holy name of Mary or the Holy name of Mary (or virgin Mary). This Catholic Church was built in the eighteenth century by the project of Antonio Derisi (Antoine Denizet).
The second is the Catholic Church located a little further from the column, almost at the Piazza Venezia and is called Santa Maria di Loreto (Santa Maria di Loreto). This beautiful Church located on the square in conjunction with the Vittoriano and the Palazzo Venezia constitute the ensemble and the uniqueness of the whole Piazza Venezia.
Santa Maria was built in the 16th century, between 1522 and 1573 years. The authors of this work is two architects, Bramante and Antonio da Sangallo the Younger.
The photo shows two churches, the one in the foreground and closer to the Venice - Santa Maria di Loreto, for her, the one on the forum and closer to Trajan's column - Holy name of Mary.
These two churches really create so inseparable and harmonious Duo, besides, despite the power of the stone, blowing easily and look like a culinary masterpiece.
