Burgstrasse Street, Munich (Burgstraße)

Burgstrasse (German: Burgstraße) is one of the oldest city streets in Munich, located in the city center - in the historic old town of Munich.

The street name has been registered with the 1364.

The length of the street burgstraße underground station is around 150 metres. It connects two important places of interest in Munich: the former Ducal Palace and Imperial residence of the rulers of Bavaria - the Old courtyard (Hof Alter / Alter Hof) with the Old town hall (Altes Rathaus).

Along the street are located buildings, among which are remarkable:

- the building of Weinstadl (Weinstadl), located at number 5, is one of the oldest surviving townhouses in Munich. The building in the late Gothic style was built from 1500 extensions 1550 - 1552 years.

During the history, the building housed the city's wine cellar. Since the late 18th century, the building housed various wine taverns.

- in the corner of building 7 (new building constructed in 1962-1963) in the short period since 1780 there lived a musician and composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Mozart had a small corner room on the second floor of the house where he completed the Opera "Idomeneo". This fact tells us a plaque installed on the facade of the house from the street Altenhofstrasse (Altenhofstraße);

- one of the owners of the house at number 6 was a Bavarian lawyer and statesman Figuli background Kreitmair, which bought the building in 1757 and lived there until his death in 1790.
