The hotel "Old Doctor" in the past was a boarding house for the rest of the medical staff of the hospital "Mercy", which was called "Tannenhof" (German name Tannenhoff), which means "Spruce yard", as a dense hedge of low fir trees was planted in front of the building.
The building was built in 1910-1912 and had two floors with an attic.
The Mercy Hospital was founded in 1850 in Konigsberg (now Kaliningrad) by the countess sisters of the famous and respected von zu Don family in Prussia.
In the 90s of the 20th century, the building was restored and now houses the Old Doctor Hotel.

The hotel got its name "Old Doctor", thanks to the monument to Academician I.P. Pavlov, installed near the building.
On the left side of the hotel building there is a shop "Amber", which sells jewelry made of gold and silver with amber. The path leading to the store from Gagarin Street is decorated with bright sculptures of gnomes and cats.
On the opposite side of the road from the Old Doctor Hotel, at 15 Gagarina Street, there is a modern 5-star Madame L Hotel with a garden, bar, restaurant, 24-hour front desk, free parking and Wi-Fi.
