The Dubai Opera (arabic name: اارابيالأوبرا) is a multifunctional performing arts center in Dubai, which is one of the most iconic places in the city.
Dubai Opera is located in the heart of Dubai, in the Downtown Dubai Opera area next to Burj Khalifa, the famous Dubai Dancing Fountain in Burj Lake and huge Dubai Mall with aquarium.
The design of the Dubai Opera House was designed by Atkins and lead architect Janus Rostokomotryla. The Opera opened its doors on August 31, 2016 with a performance Spanish opera singer and conductor, lyric-dramatic tenor Placido Domingo.
The Opera house has the shape of a traditional sailing Arab dhow, and is a masterpiece of stylish modern design, at the same time paying homage to the maritime history of Dubai.
The building looks massive-overhanging and, thanks to the glass facade, at the same time airy, which cannot but catch the eye and make an impression.
The opera is designed for 2000 seats and consists of several zones:
- The assembly hall is a multifunctional theater that can be transformed into three modes; from theater to concert and banquet halls for exclusive events. This is the main stage of the opera, which is located in the "bow" of the ship building;
- The studio is an ultra-modern functional space suitable for small events, dance rehearsals and performances;
- Grano foyer and lounge where private events are held and overlooking the Dubai Fountain. This area is notable for the huge Symphony chandelier, which has 3000 LED light sources and thousands of hand-blown crystal pieces.;
- The space near the Opera House, which includes an outdoor area and a garden that is accessible to everyone and gives views of the Burj Khalifa skyscraper and the Dubai Fountain. Various events can be held here, from cocktail receptions to gala dinners, weddings, private events and open-air concerts, accommodating up to 700 guests standing.
The Dubai Opera is the creative center of Dubai.
The Opera hosts various concerts, shows, theatrical performances, plays, musicals, ballets, dance and opera performances, as well as receptions, gala dinners, fashion shows and social events.
The opera also hosts private events: weddings, birthdays, graduations, cocktail receptions, corporate and private dinners.
Tours are conducted around the opera building, including with the opportunity to get behind the scenes.
The Opera House also has a dining room overlooking Dubai Fountain and Burj Khalifa, rooftop lounge and restaurant.
