Weinstadl House, Munich - wine vault

The Weinstadl - wine cellar is a historic building (house) with a painted Renaissance facade, which is one of the oldest surviving Munich townhouses.

The building in the late Gothic style was built from 1500 extensions 1550 - 1552 years and was the place of printing of the city.

During the history, the building housed the city's wine cellar. Since the late 18th century, the building housed various wine taverns.

In 1758 the building, with the participation of adviser of the elector Johann von Lindiana, was held the first meeting of the newly created "Society of the Bavarian scientists" that later became the Foundation of the Bavarian Academy of science. Linpro died in this house June 14, 1787.

Today the building houses a restaurant with a courtyard.

In the courtyard is a fountain for foodies (Genießerbrunnen) having a hexagonal pool in the center of which, on a low column is the bronze figure dedicated to the founder of the old wine bar.

The figure of the fountain, the design of which belongs to Guido Goetz, was cast by Mayr and installed in July of 1952 in the courtyard of the wine restaurant Zum Hofer.

House Weinstadl is located in the historic old town of Munich, at the address: 5 Burgstrasse street (Burgstraße).
