Karakash Mosque (Karakaş Cami) is a mosque in the center of Antalya, leading the history since the 14th century.
Karakash Mosque is located in the historical center of Antalya, on one of the most beautiful and visited streets of the city - Ataturk Boulevard, directly opposite Рadrian's gate leading to the old town of Kaleichi.
It is believed that the mosque was originally built in the 14th century. The mosque was completely destroyed during the invasion of the Seljuks, and rebuilt in 2003 by the famous Turkish architect Turgut Dzhansever.
Currently, the mosque is a replica of the old Karakash Mosque, which is considered a successful example of the reconstruction of historical buildings.
The Karakash Mosque is active.
The mosque is domed; it has a rectangular shape and one minaret with a sherefe (balcony). The facade of the building is made of natural stones. The roof is covered with tiles and consists of domes: central and small side domes with turrets.
The interior of the mosque is also new, rather modest, but stands out with calm colors and tranquility.
