Reserve Palace (Kochubei) in Pushkin St. Petersburg (Tsarskoe Selo) - now the Wedding Palace № 3

The Reserve Palace is a historical building, a former palace, and now the Wedding Palace in the city of Pushkin in St. Petersburg (former Tsarskoye Selo).

The palace is also known as Kochubey's dacha or M. V. Kochubey's dacha, Nikolaevsky Palace, Reserve Palace and Vladimir Courtyard.

The building of the former, now restored palace is made in the classical style and is one of the decorations of the city of Pushkin.

The land plot in Tsarskoye Selo, on which the building is now located, was presented by Emperor Alexander I to the stateswoman MV Kochubey (Vasilchikova) in 1816. Her husband, Count and since 1831, Prince V. P. Kochubey, was a prominent statesman at the courts of Emperors Paul I, Alexander I and Nicholas I.

In 1817-1824, the architect Vasily Petrovich Stasov built a country palace in the classical style on a donated land plot for the Kochubey couple, which was named after the last name of the owners. A landscape park adjoined the house.

After the death of Prince Kochubey, in 1835, the building was purchased from his widow by the Department of Allotments for the third son of Emperor Nicholas I - the four-year-old Grand Duke Nikolai Nikolaevich. Then the palace was called Nikolaevsky. In 1858, shortly after his marriage, Nikolai Nikolaevich sold the palace back to the Ministry of the Imperial Court and Estates, after which the palace officially (since 1859) became known as the Tsarskoye Selo Reserve.

Since 1875, the Reserve Palace was transferred to the possession of Grand Duke Vladimir Alexandrovich. The palace was restored by the architect Alexander Fomich Vidov, after which economic extensions were erected on the site: The non-commissioned officer's wing, the Carriage shed, the Cavalier's house, and others. After the death of Vladimir Alexandrovich, the palace was renamed Vladimir and it was owned by the prince's widow until the revolutionary 1917.

Subsequently, various organs were placed in the building of the former palace.

During the Great Patriotic War, the palace was severely damaged, only the walls survived. In the 1950s, the palace was actually rebuilt and the Pushkin House of Pioneers was located within its walls, then a local history exhibition, then the Tsarskoye Selo branch of the St. Petersburg State Academy of Theater Arts and the First Border Cadet Corps of the FSB of Russia.

Since June 24, 2010, as part of the celebration of the 300th anniversary, the Wedding Palace No. 3 has been located in the building of the former palace.

The building has a classicism style and looks like Italian villas of the 19th century. The palace is also surrounded by an adjacent park on the shore of the 4th Lower Pond of the city of Pushkin.

On both sides, the palace is distinguished by columned porticos and has monumental stairs. On the garden side, near the palace stairs, there are sculptures of lions on pedestals.
