Pyramid in Catherine Park, Tsarskoe Selo (Pushkin, Saint Petersburg)

The pyramid is a small building (pavilion) located in the landscape part of the Catherine Park, in the former Tsarskoye Selo (now the city of Pushkin in St. Petersburg).

The pyramid was one of the first structures of the landscape part of the Catherine Park (the last structure of the Catherine Park - Turkish bath) and was originally built in 1770-1772 by the architect V.I. Neelov. In 1774, the Pyramid was dismantled, and in 1782-1783 it was rebuilt by the architect Charles Cameron.

The pyramid is a small structure that is located slightly away from the park alley; it was a traditional structure for parks of the late 18th century of the Romantic era and was something like a mausoleum.

The walls of the pyramid are built of brick and lined with hewn granite on the outside.

An entrance cuts through one side of the pyramid. Four columns on pedestals, carved out of multicolored marbles, once stood at the corners.

On the opposite side from the entrance of the Pyramid, at the foot of the Pyramid, three favorite dogs of Catherine II are buried: Tom Anderson, Zemira and Duchess.

The interior of the Pyramid pavilion is covered by a spherical dome with a hole in the center.

In the walls there are niches in which Roman funeral urns were installed under Catherine II.
