The house of R. G. Vega (the Vega apartment house) is a historical architectural monument located in the center of St. Petersburg, on the embankment of the Kryukov Canal near the Kashin Bridge, which is part of the famous Semimostye.
This mansion is considered one of the most luxurious historical houses in the city, combining attractiveness, gloom and mystery.
The style of the building is neoclassicism.
The building was built on the site of a three-story house in 1912-1914, designed by architect S. O. Ovsyannikov with the participation of military engineer I. P. Stavitsky, for a confectionery merchant in Russia and abroad - Vega.
The building was used as a profitable house for wealthy citizens, among whose residents were the pianist and conductor A. I. Ziloti, geneticist, scientist and teacher Mikhail Yefimovich Lobashov and other famous people.
Today it is a residential building that is famous for its architecture, reminiscent of an Italian Renaissance palazzo.
The house is a large six-story building with an attic and a courtyard-kurdoner, the main facade facing the embankment of the Kryukov canal.
The building has bay windows, rare balconies and window openings of various shapes.
The walls of the building are decorated with terrazite plaster and decorated with rust at the level of 1 and 2 floors. The ground floor is lined with gray granite. At the level of the 2nd floor, the facade of the building is decorated with a frieze of a heroic character, above which, above the window openings, there are relief panels and high-relief female heads.
The main entrance to the courtyard at a height of two floors has a decorative colonnade and is decorated with three-dimensional sculptures of Atlanteans.
The central building of the courtyard is decorated with a clock with a Roman dial.
In the left vestibule of the main courtyard, there are marble bas-reliefs on the walls and two benches made of natural stone, with marble sculptures of satyrs on the handrails.
