Duty Stable-pavilion, a historic building in the former Tsarskoye Selo (now the Pushkin city of St. Petersburg).
Today, the exhibition "Court Carriage in Tsarskoye Selo"will be held in the walls of the former duty stable.
The building of the duty stable was built in 1822-1827 by the architects Vasily Petrovich Stasov and Smaragd Loginovich Shustov.
These were the emperor's own stables, located not far from the Catherine's Palace with the adjacent park.
The building was damaged during the Great Patriotic War. It was later restored.
According to its purpose, the building has a horseshoe-shaped (semicircular) shape in the plan, and at its ends there is a mezzanine floor, which previously served as a room for employees ' apartments.
The walls of the building and the doorways expand downwards. The walls end with a Doric frieze of triglyphs and metopes (part of the metopes has been replaced with windows to illuminate the mezzanine floor) and an external cornice with modulons. The roof is gable-roofed, with triangular gables at the ends. The facades are decorated with large rust on 2/3 of the height, above which there are rare semicircular windows.

Exhibition «Court carriage»
The permanent exhibition "The Court Carriage in Tsarskoye Selo" is located in the walls of the court stable today.
The exhibition presents a collection of 25 imperial carriages made by Russian and Western European masters of the 18th and 19th centuries.
Most of the collection is made up of state carriages that took part in the solemn ceremonies of the Russian Court. First of all, these carriages served the purpose of demonstrating the wealth and power of the government and the state itself, so they were richly decorated and made an impression on the public.
Also in the collection are walking and city carriages, children's carriages and sledges, which were once items of personal imperial use.
The oldest carriage at the exhibition (about 1762) was created by the court workshop of the famous "saddle and carriage", which was headed by the master I. K. Bukendal. It is known that this particular carriage was part of the coronation train of the Empress Catherine II. The body of the carriage is beautiful and unusually complex, and gilded carved scrolls of Baroque ornament cover all the structural parts.
Another ceremonial carriage of the era of Catherine the Great, in the collection, is the so-called "Yusupov carriage", brought in 1783 from London by Prince N. B. Yusupov. From the notes on the repair of the crew, which are preserved in archival documents, we know the solemn events in which the crew participated: the wedding of Grand Duke Konstantin Pavlovich, the coronation of Emperors Paul I, Alexander I and Nicholas I.
There is also an elegant two-seater carriage, which was made in 1866 at the factory of K. K. Nellis for Grand Duchess Maria Feodorovna (born Danish Princess Maria Sofia Frederica Dagmara, the wife of the future Emperor Alexander III). Made with the latest technology, the carriage had a light design and a soft ride, including thanks to the rubber tires that came into use.
