El Molinar or just Molinar (Es Molinar) is a residential area that is part of Palma de Mallorca and is considered its South-Eastern resort town.
In turn Molinar, together with neighbouring areas is part of a large coastal area of Platja de Palma (Platja de Palma).
Molinar is located approximately 2.5 kilometers from the historic center of Palma. From the North-West side of the coast district is bordered by the homonymous quarter and the beach of Can Pere Antoni and the South-East with the district of Es-Col-Dien Rabassa.
The name "El Molinar" comes from the mills that once were in the area (late 19th - early 20th centuries) and is destroyed at the moment.
Initially, the district dates from the late 18th century and was then a fishing village, the core of which formed near the Portixol (Portitxol), now the harbour of es Portixol (Es Portixol).
In the Harbor, moored yachts and small boats are a pleasure pier, yacht club and a 4-star hotel Portixol restaurant with Mediterranean cuisine. Around the port are walking the sidewalk with Seating, bike path and roadway.
The beaches and promenade of El Molinar
Almost immediately the Harbor originates from a continuous strip of beach that stretches 1.6 kilometers along the coast of the district, to the river Torrent gros.
The shoreline area of the rocky artificial formations divided into small beach area. The beach strip is narrow. On the beach, pale sand, sometimes stones and rock formations. Sea water is clean, depth comes rather abruptly.
On the beaches practically no infrastructure. There are several showers and trash cans.

Attraction beach El Molinar is a sculpture - obelisk (vane, Obelisco) located near marine waters.
Along the beach runs a promenade, the Paseo del Molinar (Passeig del Molinar) giving the name of the beaches in the area. On the waterfront there are places to stay. Along the Paseo are the bike path and road, on the opposite side which lined up in a row of low buildings, on first floors, some of which are cafes and restaurants.
